| The Northern Territory is home to Darwin, the state capital. Populated by 114,368, this makes it the largest and most populated city in the state but the least populated compared with all of Australia’s cities. Darwin has changed form a small port to one of the most modern and multicultural cities. Its an important gateway to Asia, especially countries like Indonesia and East Timor. The scenic Stuart Highway begins in Darwin, ending at Port Augusta in the South. The region is of a tropical climate, with a wet season and a dry season. The wet season is known for the spectacular lightening. |
